Do You Volunteer at the Church or School?

Requirements for Clergy, Adult/Teen Employees and Volunteers whose role involves direct contact with minors 

Clergy, Employees, and Volunteers of the Diocese of Rockford are required to obtain a password from their parish/school/entity and proceed to set up a Virtus Online account. This system will provide users with the necessary paperwork and training(s) to be approved as an employee/volunteer within the Diocese. 

This will also provide users with notifications that pertain to a document or training in their account that requires the individual to update the information when requested. No individual is permitted to work and/or volunteer in the Diocese until their Virtus Online account has all required Safe Environment documentation in the system and current. 

All forms & training certificates are to be submitted by the clergy, employee, and volunteer to the parish/school/diocesan entity, through the online system with the exception of the requirements specified under the screening section and the State of Illinois Mandated Reporter Online Training requirement. 

Registering with VIRTUS Online System

Before completing Protecting God’s Children training online, all participants must first register with VIRTUS Online. Please click on the VIRTUS link to access the VIRTUS Registration page:

Or, please go to www.virtus.org and click on First Time Registrant and select Rockford from the drop-down list.

***You must contact Debbie O'Leary in the parish office for the parish password required for VIRTUS registration.

• Please enter the password provided by your Diocese, Parish or School. Contact your parish, school or entity directly for the password to create an online account or contact the Diocesan Safe Environment Office at 815-399-4300 ext. 417 Click Continue to proceed.
• Create a user ID and a password you can easily remember. This is necessary for all participants. This establishes your account with the VIRTUS program. Continue and follow the VIRTUS online instructions.
